Prep: Separate you class into groups of 4. 3 is acceptable, but one person will have to be person A and B. Have them decide who will be person A, B, C, and D. Tell the class that they will be watching a movie that his it’s parts out of order. They will have to watch their part, describe it to their partners and decide the order of the clips (ABDC, DCBA, etc.)
Pre-teach: Watch the clip and decide what are the key vocabulary words they will need for the activity. Teach those in any way you see fit.
During:
Tell person B, C, and D to close their eyes. Only, person A is allowed to watch Clip A. Start the video. When the clip ends, tell person B to open their eyes. They watch their clip. Do the same for C and D. At the end, tell them they have 6 minutes to discuss and write down an answer.
I like to go around and write down good examples of English, common mistakes, and use of Native Language to write on the board to talk about later.
In the last 30 seconds request for them to write down their answers. When time runs out, have them lift their answers in the air and look at eachothers. The real clip with sound will begin to play.
Post: After the clip has played out, review the correct answer and any notes you took while hanging out during the Discusison phase. I like to commend good English and point in the general direction where it came from, fix some interesting mistakes, and ask students to translate any native language that was uttered.
